||Thomas Pointer is the owner and CEO of the organization. He oversees the entire operation and creates the programs for Residential, Day, and Supported Employment. Thomas along with his wife Robin started NorthStar Special Services in the basement of their home in September 2007. Thomas has worked in the industry for over 20 years and he always dreamed of having his own company. Thomas is passionate about the adults with intellectual disabilities that he is honored to serve and he works tirelessly to ensure they have good, meaningful, quality lives. Thomas has received many honors, certificates, and awards for his outstanding achievements and he is a member of MACS.
||Robin Pointer is Executive Director and CFO of the organization. She oversees the operation in the Pikesville office and manages the operating budgets for the entire company. Robin helped her husband start NorthStar Special Services in the basement of their home in September of 2007 with one house and one client. With a lot of hard work, and team effort, the company has exceeded its projection for growth and has added a Day and Supported Employment Program in Randallstown, MD. Robin has a BS degree in Business Management and she is a member of MACS.
||Tonyetta Williams is the Program Director of the organization. She oversees both the Residential, Day and Supported Employment programs. Tonyetta has worked in the industry over 15 years. She has been with NorthStar since 2007 and works closely with Thomas and Robin Pointer to ensure implementation in programming. Her primary responsibilities include assuring compliance with COMAR regulations and company policy and procedures. She prides herself on providing quality services to the individuals who participate in NorthStar’s programs.
||Naaol joined NorthStar in September of 2017 and he is responsible for all facets of the residential program to include monitoring clients’ clinical, fiscal, medical, and treatment regimes. Although Naaol is new to the DDA industry he brings several years of experience caring for and managing assisted living communities throughout the Baltimore and Metropolitan areas. Naaol has earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Amherst College and he has completed studies in medicine.
|Day Habilitation and Supported Employment Program Manager
||Mr. Hebron is NorthStar Special Services new Day/Supported Employment Program Manager. His goal is to assist his team to provide quality services to individuals with intellectual disabilities and to prepare them for successful community integration. Mr. Hebron has been a leading manager in this field for over 22 years and has worked with both juveniles and adults with intellectual disabilities. Mr. Hebron is a 21 year retired Veteran who served with the United States Army and the Maryland Army National Guards. Mr. Hebron is highly motivated with a strong passion to continue helping the population we serve to thrive and achieve meaningful life choices and goals.
|CQI Manager and Trainer
||William Vandervall is the CQI Manager and Trainer for NorthStar. He joined our team in September of 2016 and he brings a wealth of knowledge having worked in this industry for over 20 years. William has a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and he actively works to improve the lives of those he has been given the honor of caring for. William is responsible for all facets of training, quality assurance, and incident prevention and reporting. William has a passion for our population and he has been an asset to our team.
||Corey Pointer Sr. M.H.S. – C. is the Continuous Quality Improvement Manager for NorthStar Special Services, Inc. He oversees quality assurance as well as training for all three programs. Corey has been in the human services field since 1998 and he demonstrates a passion for serving individuals with developmental and intellectual disorders. Corey currently has a MS degree in Human Services with a counseling concentration from Lincoln University.
|IP Coordinator – Residential
||Sandra Smith joined the NorthStar team in September of 2012. Her background is in accounting with over 30 years of experience. Sandra’s first encounter with individuals with intellectual disabilities was in October, 2006 as an Individual Coordinator. Her duties included paying all the individuals expenses and making sure all financial matters were in order according to DDA and Social Security regulations. Because of Sandra’s passion for the individuals she served she was given the opportunity to join NorthStar as the Individual Plan Coordinator for the Residential Program.
|IP Coordinator – Day Program
||Freddie West is the Individual Planning Coordinator for NorthStar’s Day Habilitation and Supported Employment Programs. He has been a part of the NorthStar team since Spring of 2011 and was one of the first employees to begin the initial opening of the Day Program. Freddie develops, implements and trains direct care staff on all individual plans. He assures that the services provided to each individual is person centered and monitors their progress towards completing their goals. Freddie holds an obligation to meet with DDA’s Service Coordination and DDA funded care providers to advocate and ensuring the best outcomes for the individuals served. Freddie has a BS degree from Coppin State University and has several years of experience working with individuals with intellectual disabilities.
|Operations Coordinator – Day Program
||Kofi Pointer began his employment with NorthStar in September of 2007 as a Residential Counselor. He assisted with the transition of NorthStar’s first individual in residential services. After the opening of NorthStar’s day program, Kofi transferred and became a Vocational Counselor his responsibilities include supervising his staff, scheduling, arranging transportation for the program participants, ensuring that all day program vehicles are maintained and overall environmental safely.
|Residential Operations Coordinator
||Mr. Aquil joined the NorthStar team in September of 2017. He has been a strong community activist, business owner, and spiritual teacher for many years. Mr. Aquil worked in the DDA sector over 20 years ago and while he admits a lot has changed, “providing quality service to individuals with intellectual disabilities is not one of them. It is – and has always been one of the most rewarding responsibilities I’ve ever had”.

||Christina Summerville serves as the Human Resources Specialist of the organization. She oversee’s recruiting, interviewing, and hiring of new staff, consults with top executives on strategic planning, and serves as a link between the organization’s management and its employees. Christina is passionate about helping our organization make the most of its resources and talent.
